This weekend in Ashland, First Friday kicked off a three-month exhibit of local artist Pegi Smith‘s beautiful new paintings — at our favorite wine bar, no less: Liquid Assets.

You may already be familiar with Pegi’s work as the cover artist for Olivia Chadha’s novel Balance of Fragile Things.

Pegi’s new exhibit, in the warm and cozy setting of Liquid Assets, offers more of the same rich, lovely images…

As always, Pegi’s art infuses magnificent colors with natural images, often mixing human and animal forms awash in vibrant backgrounds.

Be sure to stop by Liquid Assets (at 96 North Main Street) during the next three months to see Pegi’s new work.

And, speaking of our favorite wine bar, Liquid Assets has just completed a renovation that has expanded its seating area, so it’s a great time to visit. Not to mention its daily happy hour, during which all wine by the glass, beer, and food is $2 off.

And while we’re still on the subject of wine and art, save the date for next month’s First Friday, which opens a solo show and exhibit by local artist Dana Feagin on September 5, with a wine tasting by Belle Fiore Estate & Winery at Art & Soul Gallery at 247 East Main Street.
